The Alaska Public Lands Information Center in Fairbanks (FAPLIC) offers a variety of educational programs for community schools and youth groups; off-season lecture and film series; and special events and family programs throughout the year. These programs give children and adults the opportunity to explore Alaskan themes through a variety of games, activities and learning adventures. FAPLIC staff also assist visitors to plan recreational activities in a number of conservation areas throughout interior and northern Alaska.

The Northern Alaska Environmental Center promotes conservation of the environment and sustainable resource stewardship in Interior and Arctic Alaska through education and advocacy. Located in Fairbanks, Alaska, the Northern Center is the quintessential grassroots organization, with a 15-member Board of Directors, 9 Advisory Board Members, 8 staff, more than 50 active volunteers, and over 1,500 contributing members. The Northern Center operates 5 major programs, the Arctic, Clean Water & Mining, Renewable Energy, Conservation Solutions, and Education.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is the principle federal agency responsible for conserving, protecting and enhancing fish and wildlife and their habitats for the continuing benefit of the American people. The Service manages the 95-million-acre National Wildlife Refuge System comprised of more than 540 National Wildlife Refuges and thousands of waterfowl production areas. It also operates 65 national fish hatcheries and 78 ecological services field stations. There are 16 National Wildlife Refuges in Alaska.

The Fairbanks Arts Association promotes excellence in contemporary and traditional Alaskan arts in Alaska's Interior. Incorporated in 1966, the Fairbanks Arts Association is the oldest community arts council in the state, and the official arts organization for both the Fairbanks North Star Borough and the City of Fairbanks. Founding members of FAA are also remembered for their work in establishing the Alaska State Council on the Arts and the Civic Center at Pioneer Park, which recently was renamed the Alaska Centennial Center for the Arts.

The Student Activities Office (SAO) is housed in the William Ransom Wood Campus Center at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF). This office provides programs to the UAF community including concerts, comedians, lecturers, poetry slams, photography contests, film festivals and UAF Nanook Traditions. The Fairbanks North Star Borough Parks and Recreation Department operates and maintains Pioneer Park, the Big Dipper Ice Arena, Chena Lake Recreation Area, 3 area pools, and dozens of neighborhood and community parks throughout the Borough. The Department partners with many organizations and user groups to offer a wide variety of year round recreational opportunities. |
